Wilks Score for Powerlifting

Formula

Wilks Score = Total Lifted * Wilks Coefficient.
The coefficient is derived from a 5th-degree polynomial based on body weight.

The Wilks score provides a way to compare powerlifting performances across different body weight classes and between sexes. It multiplies the total lifted by a coefficient that adjusts for body weight.

A Wilks score above 300 is considered competitive at the local level, while scores above 400 are nationally competitive and above 500 represent world-class performance.

Common use cases:

  • Comparing lifters across weight classes
  • Powerlifting competition best-lifter awards
  • Tracking relative strength progress
