Compare Strength Across Weight Classes
Formula
The Wilks coefficient allows powerlifters to compare strength across different body weight classes. It uses a polynomial formula to normalize a lifter's total relative to their body weight.
A Wilks score above 300 is considered good for recreational lifters, 400+ is competitive, and 500+ places you among elite-level powerlifters.
Common use cases:
- Comparing strength across weight classes
- Tracking relative strength progress
- Powerlifting competition rankings
