The margin of error quantifies uncertainty in survey results by defining a range within which the true population parameter is likely to fall. A margin of error of plus or minus 3% means the true value is within 3 percentage points of the reported result.

Larger sample sizes reduce the margin of error, while higher confidence levels increase it. The most common confidence level used in polling is 95%.
