How to Calculate Photo Print Size from Pixel Dimensions
Formula
Print size is determined by dividing your image's pixel dimensions by the desired print resolution (DPI). At 300 DPI, which is the standard for high-quality prints, a 4000x3000 pixel image can print at 13.3 x 10 inches.
Lower DPI values allow larger prints but with reduced sharpness. 150 DPI is acceptable for viewing at arm's length, while 72 DPI is only suitable for screen display.
Common use cases:
- Determining maximum print size for photographs
- Choosing the right camera resolution for desired print sizes
- Preparing images for professional printing
