Ovulation typically occurs about 14 days before the start of your next period. For a 28-day cycle, this is day 14; for a 32-day cycle, it would be day 18. The fertile window spans approximately 5 days before ovulation plus the day of ovulation itself.
Sperm can survive in the reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while an egg is viable for about 12-24 hours after release. This means the highest chance of conception is in the 2-3 days before ovulation.
